Red Lake School District will have a 2 hour late start on Thursday, April 6th, to allow time for plows to finish cleaning everything up. However, there is the potential for an e-learning day if the roads are still too difficult to navigate by bus. Please plan for a 2 hour late start, and the district will keep you updated if there are any further changes. Miigwech!

Red Lake School District will be closing early Tuesday, April 4, 2023 due to impending weather. Red Lake Elementary Complex will dismiss at 1:15, and Red Lake Secondary Complex and Ponemah School will dismiss at 1:30. All after school programming is cancelled today and tomorrow.
The decision has also been made to make Wednesday, April 5th an E-Learning day across the district.

It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the loss of our colleague and mentor, Arnold Kingbird. Arnold spent much time with our students throughout the district, sharing his love for the students and for Anishinaabe language and culture.
We celebrated his gifts during a drum circle today at the middle school, and students drummed, sang, and danced to honor his love for them.
Arnold's funeral will be held Friday (tomorrow) in Ponemah at the Boys and Girls Club. To allow time to honor our mentor, Red Lake Schools will be dismissing early according to the following schedule tomorrow, Friday, March 24:
- Red Lake Secondary Complex will dismiss at 1:00PM.
- Red Lake Elementary Complex and Ponemah School will dismiss at 1:15PM.

"Over Christmas break I spent my time with Middle School students. I explained how college is completely different and how they go can for free! I’m currently going to the U of M- Twin Cities for free!!! All it took was dedication within the classroom. I highly encourage the students to focus on their academics and that they will have many options after they graduate! The Facts of Head Lice...
Symptoms: itching, sores, scabs, or red bumps on scalp, behind ears, or neck. You may see lice or nits (lice eggs).
Spread by: head lice is most commonly spread by direct contact with hair from a person with head lice. Sharing clothing or belongings (like combs and brushes, pillows, towels, hats and scarves).
Risk Factors: Head lice spread through direct transfer from one person's hair to another. It is not a sign of poor personal hygiene. Lice are very common in children with close contact from school or playing.
Complications: Head lice themselves to not cause infection. They do not carry disease, but scratching might break into the skin and cause infection.
Need treatment? visit the pharmacy over-the-counter-clinic Monday thru Friday from 8 am-12 pm and 1pm-4pm.
