Boozhoo parents and guardians of Red Lake School District!
This is a reminder that if your student will be absent or leaving school for any reasonâincluding appointments or activities outside of school, such as Tribal Council activities or program eventsâplease call the school office to excuse the absence. If the office is unavailable, please leave a voicemail.
Calling the office lets us know that you are aware and that it is okay for your student to be out of school. It also helps us record the absence correctly, maintain student safety, and keep accurate attendance records. Miigwech!

As an abundance of caution, both the elementary and secondary complexes went into a SECURE to make sure our perimeter was safe and that our buildings remained calm and quiet. Please be assured that your child is safe and that we will conduct classes as usual. We will end the SECURE when we hear that the situation is resolved.
 Thank you.

Earlier today, there was a false alarm when an odor at Red Lake Elementary Complex was thought to be gas-related. The area was checked immediately and it was confirmed the smell came from a sewer drain trap, not a gas leak. There is no safety concern, and school remains in session for Red Lake Elementary Complex K-5.
This is a weather related message from Red Lake School District.
Due to extremely cold weather, Red Lake School District will be closing early today, Thursday, January 22.
Early dismissal times are as follows:
⢠Red Lake Elementary Complex: 12:30 p.m.
⢠Red Lake Secondary Complex: 12:45 p.m.
â˘Ponemah School: 12:30 p.m.
There will be no after-school activities today, including scheduled conferences at the Red Lake Elementary Complex.
In addition, Red Lake School District will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23, due to continued extreme cold. All after-school activities tomorrow, including the basketball game, are also canceled.
Please ensure students are prepared for early dismissal and safe travel home. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
Miigwech!
Important Reminder from Red Lake School District: Weâll See You at School on Monday, January 19!
Because of earlier winter weather, Monday, January 19 will be used as a snow day makeup day, and school will be in session for all students. Thank you to our families and community for your continued supportâwe look forward to seeing everyone back at school!

To prevent a potential infestation of bedbugs, roaches and lice in our community, we ask that students no longer bring backpacks to school. This will reduce the chance that these they will come into your home with your studentâs backpack.
If your child needs to bring supplies to school, please use bags other than backpacks such as âfanny packsâ or plastic bags which wonât attract bedbugs. We need to work together to protect the community
This will go into effect the first day of school after winter break for all Red Lake Schools.
Thank you.
Basketball games are still on and there will be transportation for those.
