Boozhoo parents and guardians of Red Lake School District!

This is a reminder that if your student will be absent or leaving school for any reason—including appointments or activities outside of school, such as Tribal Council activities or program events—please call the school office to excuse the absence. If the office is unavailable, please leave a voicemail.

Calling the office lets us know that you are aware and that it is okay for your student to be out of school. It also helps us record the absence correctly, maintain student safety, and keep accurate attendance records. Miigwech!

Good morning!  Before school started this morning, we were notified that law enforcement was taking action to apprehend a suspect in the Back-of-Town area of Red Lake.   The Red Lake Police Department assured us that our schools would be safe and not affected by this police action and that the situation was contained.

As an abundance of caution, both the elementary and secondary complexes went into a SECURE to make sure our perimeter was safe and that our buildings remained calm and quiet.  Please be assured that your child is safe and that we will conduct classes as usual.  We will end the SECURE when we hear that the situation is resolved.

 Thank you.

Encourage your child to ask about words they don’t know. Try a fun “word of the day” game to learn one new word each day. Point out and talk about new words in books or stories you read together. 📚

Read with your child often. When you read out loud, use expression and a natural pace. This helps build listening skills and shows that reading can be fun. 📚

Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday February 12, 2026 3:30-7:15pm

Earlier today, there was a false alarm when an odor at Red Lake Elementary Complex was thought to be gas-related. The area was checked immediately and it was confirmed the smell came from a sewer drain trap, not a gas leak. There is no safety concern, and school remains in session for Red Lake Elementary Complex K-5.
